A.Ecovillage :

Eco villages are intentional communities whose goal is to become more socially, economically and ecologically sustainable. Most range from a population of 50 to 150 individuals, although some are smaller, and larger eco villages of up to 2,000 individuals exist as networks of smaller sub communities.

B.SITE Projects ( Architecture , Art & Design) :

SITE is a New York City based, multi-disciplinary architecture and environmental arts organization, chartered in 1970   During the early years, SITE was philosophically motivated by the societal and political revolutions of the late 1960's, as well as a questioning of the stylistic dominance of Modernist, Cubist, and Constructivist influences in architecture. In response to this critical climate, the studio advocated a total fusion of the arts - challenging those conventions that have traditionally separated visual art, buildings and landscape. Alternatively, SITE proposed an aesthetic approach where it would become difficult to determine where one art form begins and the other ends. The group's work today is not about architecture as an object sitting in the environment; but rather, it is more about integrating structure and context as a total fusion of elements, which can then be interpreted as the environment.

Aquatorium

This environmental center explores all aspects of water-related science and culture. The concept, entitled "AQUATORIUM," is intended to inspire a profound appreciation of humanity's relationship to the earth's most precious resource. By means of sight, sound, and touch, the building and its exhibition spaces are designed to tell the story of water and people. Located on top of hill, this new facility is integrated with its circular site as an over and underground experience. The building is composed of lateral information walls that carry the exhibitions from interior to exterior and fuse with the surrounding topography. These animated walls divide the sections of the museum into culture, science, habitat, technology, and agriculture, using such exhibit devices as video, water events, virtual reality experiences, gardens, natural phenomena and hands-on displays that explain the value of water in the history of civilization.

Ross's Landing Park and Plaza

Ross's Landing Park and Plaza is part of a riverfront revitalization program, associated with a $100 million mixed-use development project on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga. This area is both an important historic center in the community, as well as the site of the Tennessee Aquarium. The surrounding park and plaza is intended to soften the effect of this imposing architectural mass and integrate it more effectively with the heavily vegetated riverfront. To create a microcosm of the entire context - including its urban grid and flowing landscape - the site is articulated by a series of thirty-five longitudinal bands of paving in different materials. These ribbons chronologically record the history of the city and, in certain locations; rise above the surface to form undulating bridges, performance shelters, and water features. The ground surface is also used as a time-line to commemorate such events as the Civil War, the construction of the railroad, the beginning of blues music, and the formation of the Tennessee Valley Authority.
